Plot
The season will follow Max as he deals with a new love interest and a possible promotion. This past summer, the hit TV series “New Amsterdam” aired its third season on NBC. The show, set in the early days of New York City, tells the story of Dutch Director-General Peter Stuyvesant’s attempts to maintain control of the fledgling colony while dealing with British settlers, native tribes, and other challenges. The third season saw some changes in the cast, with the departure of several main characters and the introduction of new ones.
Characters
If there is one thing that the new season of New Amsterdam proves, it’s that friends in high places come in handy. The premiere episode picks up right where we left off, with Captain Stone (Ryan Eggold) battling for his life in the hospital. His wife Georgia (Janet Montgomery) and best friend and colleague, Max (Luke Kirby), are by his side as he fights for his life. On the other side of the country, Helen (Bojana Novakovic) is living in a strange new world with her husband Lucas (Adam Rodríguez). Meanwhile, Lucas’s father and former NYPD Captain, James Stone (guest star Tyler Labine), has been hired by the New York State Attorney General to help bring down a hospital with ties to organized crime.
Guest Stars
Ryan Eggold will return as Max and also direct an episode. The series is executive produced by Jonathan Glatzer and Glenn Gordon Caron, who also wrote the pilot. It is produced by ABC Studios with executive producers/writers Jon Glatzer, Glenn Gordon Caron, Thomas Schlamme and David Semel of White Rabbit. The series was picked up for a full season order on May 10, 2014. The pilot episode was originally intended to be aired as part of a special “Shark Tank” type event on ABC, but the network decided against it. The show had been pitched without a pilot episode.
Filming
The show resumed filming in May 2019 and is set to wrap up in August. The pilot was shot on location in New York City.
Premiere Date
New Amsterdam Season 3 will air on September 25th, 2019.
